Cancer & Massage

What is Oncology Massage?

Oncology Massage safely addresses the needs of a cancer patient, with a specialised therapist who understand the science and pays close attention to the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of the client during diagnosis, treatment, recovery, survivor-ship or palliative care.

I have personally been touched by cancer and have lost one of the most important people in my life my Mum to this dreadful disease.

This tragic event started me on my journey to become a Oncology Massage Therapist! After lots of study, exams, stressing, learning new techniques and forgetting old ones, here I am today treating people who have been on their own Cancer journeys some still on treatment, others who are survivors and finished their treatment many years ago.

Hopefully I am helping to make their cancer journeys a little brighter, less taxing and  helping invoke their relaxation response to help aid in their bodies recovery.

I enjoy performing this therapeutic and nurturing form of massage to people with cancer and special needs in a safe and personal space where they can let their guards down and relax in safe hands.

I not only want to help people with Cancer but their carer’s, family, friends anyone who is affected by the diagnosis. So, for family and friends I can offer Remedial Massage to address current health concerns, or Relaxation to help unwind and re-center themselves. This can also be beneficial for children either being treated for Cancer or a parent or family member has had a diagnosis with Cancer. The Human touch is a wonderful thing it can make you feel soothed, supported, and nurtured.

Anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis in their life know that they have had to adapt to a new normal and will always remain that little bit more cautious about their health. So, keep this attitude when choosing the right massage therapist for you, make sure they are trained and educated in Oncology Massage and registered with www.oncologymassagetraining.com.au
